River’s Edge School is located at 319 West 11000 South in South Jordan, Utah, approximately 16 miles south of Salt Lake City. The school is situated in a suburban community surrounded by residential neighborhoods, apartment communities, and local businesses. Families and community members have traditionally been supportive partners in the education and success of River’s Edge students.
River’s Edge is one of three Special Schools within Jordan School District. The school specializes in serving students who require intensive emotional, social, and behavioral support. Our faculty and staff are committed to helping students achieve academically while developing the skills necessary to be responsible, respectful, safe, and successful members of their communities.
- River’s Edge currently serves approximately 45 students with significant emotional, social, and/or behavioral needs.
- The school operates 180 days each year on a traditional nine-month calendar. Eligible students may also participate in Extended School Year (ESY) services during the summer.
- The regular school day begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m.
- River’s Edge is committed to providing meaningful learning opportunities that meet the individual academic, behavioral, social, and functional needs of each student.
- Teachers and support staff work collaboratively in professional learning communities to provide individualized instruction and coordinated student support.
- Specialized services are available to qualifying students and may include speech-language services, occupational therapy, counseling and guidance, and vocational or transition-related programming.
- Classrooms are equipped with technology to support student learning, engagement, communication, and access to educational materials.
- River’s Edge provides a comprehensive school lunch program. Current meal pricing and nutrition information can be found through Jordan School District Nutrition Services. Families may also apply for free or reduced-price meals.
- River’s Edge is a specialized placement and is not a walk-in or open-enrollment school. Students are referred through Jordan School District’s special education placement process following consideration of the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) and the student’s individual needs.
- River’s Edge has an active School Community Council that provides valuable input and support to the school community.
- Faculty and staff participate in ongoing professional development each year to strengthen instructional practices, behavioral supports, and services for students.
- River’s Edge staff members have been recognized for excellence in leadership, instruction, and their commitment to supporting students with complex needs.
